St Peter's has stood on Kitchener Street since Peterborough's earliest days — through rail booms and quiet years, droughts and good seasons — a stone constant in a town that has seen a great deal of change.
A church the town grew up around.
Peterborough — Petersburg, as it first was — grew with the railways, and St Peter's grew with the town. For generations, this stone church has been where local families have brought their babies to be baptised, their vows to be made, and their loved ones to be farewelled.
We are part of the Anglican Diocese of Willochra, a vast rural diocese covering the mid-north and far north of South Australia. Like many country parishes, we are small in number and large in spirit — kept going by faithful locals, visiting clergy, and a deep belief that a town like ours needs a place where anyone can walk in and be at peace.
Our purpose, as it has always been, is simple: to provide and maintain a place for worship, to offer fellowship and hospitality, and to give pastoral care to whoever needs it — churchgoer or not.

Peterborough sits in South Australia's mid-north, where the wheat country begins to open into pastoral land. It's a town of railway heritage, wide streets and wider skies — and like much of rural Australia, it's a place where community institutions matter enormously.
When the shop closes, the town notices. When someone falls ill, casseroles appear. St Peter's exists in that spirit: a quiet, dependable presence for families, for the elderly, and for anyone in the district who needs company, prayer or practical kindness.
